FOCUS-AT THE RAINBOW

FOCUS WERE A PROGRESSIVE ROCK BAND FORMED IN 1969 IN THE NETHERLANDS. THEY RELEASED THEIR FIRST ALBUM "IN AND OUT OF FOCUS" IN 1971 WHICH WAS UNKNOWN OUTSIDE OF THEIR COUNTRY. IT WAS THE ALBUM "MOVING WAVES" WHICH MADE THE WHOLE WORLD NOTICED THEM WITH THE ROCK CLASSIC "HOCUS POCUS" THEIR LIVE CONCERTS ARE HIGH ENERGY WITH JAN AKKERMAN'S SOARING GUITAR VIRTUOSITY, TIGHT RHYTHM SECTION, WHISTLING, HAUNTING FLUTE WORKS, HAMMOND ORGAN SOUND AND FALSETTO, NONSENSICAL (DUTCH) SINGING FROM THIJS VAN LEER. THIS LIVE ALBUM WAS RECORDED IN 1973 UNDER THE POLYDOR LABEL. MY FAVE SONG IS "HOCUS POCUS".

ERIC CLAPTON'S RAINBOW CONCERT

ERIC CLAPTON IS ONE OF GREATEST BLUES ROCK GUITARIST IN THE WORLD. HIS BIGGEST INFLUENCE IN MUSIC WAS ROBERT JOHNSON. ERIC CLAPTON WAS BORN IN UK IN 1945. HE STARTED PLAYING WITH THE ROOSTERS AND CASEY JONES AND THEN FOLLOWED BY THE YARDBIRDS, JOHN MAYALL AND THE BLUESBREAKERS, THE CREAM, BLIND FAITH, GUEST PLAYER WITH DELANEY AND BONNIE, DEREK AND THE DOMINOES. AT THIS STAGE HE WAS ADDICTED TO HEROIN WAS CURED USING THE CHINESE ELECTRO-ACUPUNTURE TREATMENT METHODS RECOMMENDED BY PETE TOWNSHEND OF THE WHO. HE CONTINUED HIS CAREER AS A SOLO ARTIST WITH BACKING MUSICIANS. THIS ALBUM WAS RECORDED ON THE RSO LABEL IN 1979. MY FAVE SONG IS "PRESENCE OF THE LORD".

THEY HAD A TOP 10 HIT WITH THE SINGLE "JIG-A-JIG" IN 1971.THEIR MUSIC IS A LITTLE BIT OF FOLK, GYPSY AND EXPERIMENTAL WITH JAZZ FUSION AND EASTERN INFLUENCES. THIS ALBUM WAS RECORDED IN 1971 UNDER THE HARVEST LABEL. MY FAVE SONG IS "WONDERFUL FEELING"

HEADS HANDS AND FEET WERE A BRITISH COUNTRY ROCK BAND FORMED FROM THE ASHES OF POET AND THE ONE MAN BAND. THIS ALBUM WAS RECORDED IN 1972 UNDER THE ISLAND LABEL WHICH SHOWCASED ALBERT LEE'S BREAKNECK SPEED GUITAR WORK. THEIR ALBUMS ARE WORKS OF ART AND THIS ALBUM MUSIC HAD A GREAT DEAL IN COMMON WITH THE NITTY GRITTY DIRT BAND. THEY BROKE OFF IN 1973 BECAUSE OF INTERNAL STRIFE. MY FAVE SONGS IS "JACK DANIELS"

HUMBLE PIE IS A HARD ROCK GROUP FROM ENGLAND, FORMED IN 1968. THEY ARE AMONG THE FIRST SUPER GROUP IN 1970 TO FIND SUCCESS IN THE US AND UK. THE MEMBERS ARE FROM THE SMALL FACES, HERD, SPOOKY TOOTH AND APOSTOLIC INTERVENTION. THEY ARE VERY DYNAMIC IN LIVE CONCERTS WITH STEVE MARRIOT PASSIONATE AND FIERY SINGING. THIS ALBUM WAS RECORDED IN 1974 UNDER THEN A&M LABEL AND COULD BE CONSIDERED AS THEIR FINEST AND HEAVIEST ALBUM WITH RHYTHM AND BLUES INFLUENCE. THUNDERBOX IS A 17th CENTURY SLANG FOR TOILET HENCE THE PHOTO OF TWO NAKED LADIES. MY FAVE SONG IS "THUNDERBOX".

TIM BOGART AND CARMINE APPICE PROVIDED THE THUNDERING RHYTHM WITH SCORCHING GUITARS RIFFS TO MOST OF THE SONGS ON THIS ALBUM. THE BAND'S MUSIC IS HEAVY BLUES, BOOGIE AND HARD ROCK. THIS IS THEIR THIRD AND IS THE LAST ALBUM BY THIS LINE-UP. THIS ALBUM WAS RELEASED IN 1971 UNDER THE ATCO LABEL. MY FAVE SONG IS "EVIL'"

THE DOORS IS AN AMERICAN ROCK BAND FORMED IN 1965 IN LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA. THEIR MUSIC IS A FUSION OF ROCK, BLUES AND ACID ROCK. THEY ARE CONSIDERED CONTROVERSIAL BECAUSE OF JIM MORRISON ERRATIC STAGE ACTS DUE TO ACID TRIPPING.THEY ARE A CULT BAND WITH A HUGE FOLLOWING AND THEY PLAYED LIVE WITHOUT A BASS PLAYER. THE NAME OF THE BAND WAS TAKEN FROM THE TITLE OF A BOOK "THE DOORS OF PERCEPTION" BY ALDOUS HUXLEY. THIS ALBUM WAS RECORDED IN 1970 UNDER THE ELEKTRA LABEL AND CONSIDERED THE BALLIEST ALBUM AT THAT TIME WITH RAUNCHY VOCALS AND GOOD HARD ROCK AND FUNK SOUNDS. MY FAVE SONGS IS "ROADHOUSE BLUES"

TEN YEARS AFTER-ROCK AND ROLL MUSIC TO THE WORLD.

TEN YEARS AFTER WAS FORMED IN NOTTINGHAM, ENGLAND BY AVLIN LEE AND LEO LYONS. THEY WERE ONE OF THE TOP BANDS OF THE SECOND WAVE OF THE BRITISH BLUES BOOM IN 1966. THEY HAD A RESIDENCY AT THE MARQUEE AND WAS SPOT ON IN THE WINDSOR BLUES FESTIVAL WHICH DREW A STANDING OVATION.THEY ELEVATED TO SUPERSTAR STATUS AFTER THE WOODSTOCK FESTIVAL IN 1968, PLAYING THE SONG "GOIN' HOME".THEIR MUSIC IS BLUES BASED AND FUSED WITH THE SPEEDY GUITAR STYLE OF ALVIN LEE. THIS ALBUM WAS RECORDED IN 1972 ON THE CBS LABEL. MY FAVE SONG IS "ROCK AND ROLL MUSIC TO THE WORLD" AND "CHOO CHOO MAMA"

COLOSSEUM WAS FORMED IN 1968 WITH MUSICIANS (OFF SHOOTS) FROM JOHN MAYALL AND THE BLUESMAKER. THEY BROKE UP AFTER A YEAR AND REFORM AGAIN WITH OTHER MUSICIANS LIKE DAVE CLEMPSON AND CHRIS FARLOWE.THIS ALBUM WAS RECORDED ON THE ISLAND LABEL IN 1971- A COMPILATION OF THEIR POPULAR SONGS FROM 1968-1970. THE SONGS SELECTION WAS DIFFICULT BECAUSE OF PERSONNEL CHANGES AND THE COMPLEXITIES OF PENDING RECORDING CONTRACTS. THEIR MUSIC ARE HIGH ENERGY, JAZZ BLUES, ROCK, FUSION AND WITH SOME CLASSICAL INFLUENCES. MY FAVE SONGS IS "THE GRASS IS GREENER"
