AZTECA-PYRAMID OF THE MOON.

AZTECA IS A LATIN, JAZZ ROCK FUSION BAND FORMED IN 1972 IN SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA, USA. THE BAND IS LED BY BROTHERS PETE AND COKE ESCOVEDO (ex-SANTANA) AND THEIR MUSIC IS A BIT OF SANTANA AND CHICAGO WITH ORCHESTRA STYLE- BIG SOUNDS WITH HORNS, WOODWINDS, PERCUSSION, GUITAR AND GREAT VOCALS. THIS ALBUM WAS RECORDED IN 1973 UNDER THE CBS/SONY LABEL. MY FAVE SONG IS "MAZATLAN".

I was one of the lucky ones who got to see them live in concert in Mazatlan. This was before they came out with this song.

It was supposed to be a spring break concert, but the Mexican government at the time stopped the "hippies" from coming.

The band played at Mazatlan's Stadium. Rummor has it that they were snuck in as a baseball team and had to borrow instruments.

Instead of having a large group, there were only less than 200 of us.

It's one of the best memory I have of Mazatlan.
