MAHAVISHNU ORCHESTRA-BETWEEN NOTHINGNESS AND ETERNITY.

John McLaughlin- guitar-energetic, stimulating, profound, speedy and talented.
Jan Hammer-piano, moog synthesizer-solid and fluent.
Jerry Goodman-violin-creavtive and impressive.
Rick Laird-bass-solid.
Billy Cobham-drums-beast on the drums-speedy and precision.

The Mahavishnu Orchestra was jazz rock fusion band led by John McLaughlin that debuted in 1971.

He studied under Indian guru, Sri Chinmoy who gave him the name Mahavishnu which means "divine, compassion, pure and justice."

His trademark are his double neck guitar-(6 &12 strings) and plays mostly instrumental music-amazing styles-electrified rock-complex rhythm in unusual time signatures with jazz, Indian classical and European music influences.

This album "Between nothingness and eternity" was recorded live at the Schaefer Music Festival in Central Park, New York on August 17 & 18 1973 under the Sony label.

Each listening, unearth new things that i did not get to hear the first time around.

My fave song is "Dream".

Al Jardine-guitar, vocals.

The Beach Boys are an American pop/ surf band formed in 1961.
Famous for their close vocal harmonies and lyrics about love, fast cars, surfing and California youth lifestyles.

The Beach Boys are the No:1 top selling American band of all times.
The group had:
1. 36 US Top 40 hits.
2. 6 Hot 100 Hits.
3. 4 No:1 singles

Now they are disbanded into 3 separate bands:

1. The Beach Boys Band-Mike Love-Bruce Johnston and backing musicians.
2. Endless Summer Band-Al Jardine-his sons and ex-Beach Boys back-up musicians.
3. Brian Wilson and his 10 piece band with members of The Wondermints and Jeff Foskett.

This album is a compilation of their hits and was recorded under the Capitol label.

MARY TRAVERS.

Mary Travers 9/11/1936-16/9/2009.

Mary Travers died of leukemia on September16 2009, at the age of 72,

She was the quiet and shy female singer of the folk group, Peter, Paul and Mary who does not spoke a word when they are on stage.

The other two member are:
Peter Yarrow-vocals and guitar.
Noel "Paul" Stooky-vocals and guitar.

They help bring folk music into the commercial mainstream.

1962-1st album-hits with "Lemon Tree" and "If I had a hammer".
1962-2nd album-hits with "Puff the magic dragon".
1963-3rd album-hits with "Blowing in the wind" (video)

May your soul rest in peace.

SANDY POSEY-SINGLE GIRL.

Sandy Posey is an American pop singer, born in Jasper, Alabama.
Despite having 3 hit singles:

1. Born a woman-1966-a women liberationists song.
2. Single girl-1966-gentle vocal.
3. I'll take it back-1967-more up tempo.

she was not fully embraced by fans or was a household name.

This EP was recorded under the MGM label.

EMERSON, LAKE AND PALMER- BRAIN SALAD SURGERY.

Keith Emerson(ex Nice)-keyboards.
Greg Lake(ex King Crimson)-vocals, guitar, bass.
Carl Palmer(ex Atomic Rooster)-drums, percussion.

Emerson, Lake and Palmer were a British band, considered a super group of the decade and had the most commercial success than any other progressive rock out of the 1970's.
Their music are progressive classical rock that are high precision with keyboards and synthesizer technology.

1. Layered keyboard sounds from Emerson.
2. Churning bass, impressive guitar work and commanding vocals from Lake.
3. Intricate and powerful drumming from Palmer.

Brain Salad Surgery, their 5th album was recorded under their own Manticore label in 1973.
The live concert based on this album was the biggest concert draw on the planet.

CRUSADERS-STREET LIFE.

The Crusaders was an American jazz band founded by Joe Sample, Wilton Felder and Wayne Henderson with others hired musicians.

They are one of the pioneers of jazz funk music in the 70's.

This 12th album was a big commercial success for them and was recorded under the MCA label in 1979.

It went to No:5 in the UK hit charts.
A top 20 album on Billboard pop charts, too!

My fave song is "Street Life"

THE MOODY BLUES ARE AN ENGLISH BAND FOUNDED BY MICHAEL PINDER AND RAY THOMAS IN BIRMINGHAM IN 1964.
THEY WERE SUCCESSFUL WITH THEIR SECOND SINGLES "GO NOW".

THESE TWO ALBUMS SHOWED THEM AT THEIR CREATIVE BEST AFTER REINVENTING THEMSELVES FROM THEIR R&B ROOTS TO MUCH MORE FULLER, LUSH AND PSYCHEDELIC CONCEPT SOUNDS.

1:-"TO OUR CHILDREN'S CHILDREN'S CHILDREN" RECORDED UNDER THE THRESHOLD LABEL IN 1969, WAS A CONCEPT ALBUM BASED ON THE BAND'S CELEBRATION OF THE FIRST MOON LANDING.
